Looking for the world’s best, Engineer on tour travel blog introduction

I look for non-tourist experiences at regular travel destinations and beyond. I am a traveling engineer and this is an introduction to my blog.

Big NO to boring travel destinations!

Did you ever come to a point, when travel destinations start looking similar? Seriously, after visiting several items out of a “things to do” list, it starts to get annoying. I think every tourist office must issue a guide with around 20 pages of text. To fill the vacuum, they put all kinds of stuff, which is not necessarily interesting, same with TripAdvisor and “N things to do” blogs – churches, small pieces of ancient ruins, random architecture. Most of these things are disastrously boring and annoying to read (write) about.

With this blog, I am trying to do things differently. I would spare you from reading about general, boring sights lists. Instead, I decided to focus on my personal’s best, the selected places with and experiences around Europe (sometimes beyond). If I show something from a tour guide list – then I think it is significant.

I think, visiting the sights out of a guide was an early mistake I made as a traveler. I could have done so many nicer things instead. But a bad experience is still an experience.

Travel the world with photography

Travel photography is my beloved hobby. Once I decided to take it seriously and was studying some work of legendary photographers. These people saw the world changing events and remote, unusual locations. Their work had a large influence o what on my blogging style.

I try to accompany my stories with strong images, many of which I upload in high resolution, full-screen. I am not as good as professional travel photographers or news reporters, but I am trying my best and carry my camera everywhere. Apart from regular travel, I have some work in street and documentary photography. Most of my readers are here because of the images.

Sex, drugs and Mechanical Engineering

I am a full-time engineer, which sounds quite boring, right? Well, my occupation may not be exciting, so I try to make my free time completely different.

My background helps me to give a bit of technical perspective. This also influences the locations I visit a bit. I am trying me to keep it simple and easy-to-read for non-engineering readers.

Finland blog: travel and expat life

In my blog, there is a lot about Finland, because I happen to be living in there, the place with the happiest people of the world (2018). In Heavensinki (Helsinki) life is so happy, that I need to leave the country at least once a month, so I wouldn’t have a heart attack out of excitement.

Ok, if seriously, I am trying hard to deliver some exciting things to do in Finland, which isn’t easy. Finland is good for relaxing in a sauna or meeting sunset next to a lake, it has comfortable modern houses and high standards of living. But it misses any kind of mountainous landscapes and there isn’t much of real authenticity, it is expensive and is not on top for exapts to make friends.

In my blog, you can expect an honest opinion about places to visit.

I am similarly honest about expat life in Finland and about events happening here. If you consider moving here or just interested in interesting stories of people, who have changed their life and country – consider reading some of my posts.
