Europe

In this category, I talk about European countries that are other than Finland. (I live in Finland, and it is a separate big category)

How do I see tourism in Europe?

Tourism in Europe is well developed, but it creates one problem. It is hard to choose between destinations. There are one-of-a-kind places, for instance, Athens or Venice, but they are horribly overcrowded, which damages the atmosphere. There are lesser-known things-to-do, but then how to chose the city? Everyone advertises their place as the best.

For instance, I loved authentic old streets in the Trastevere district in Rome. In another country, they would make a front page of a guide book. But Rome is so rich on sights, that they are lost.

I think tourism in Europe requires good guidance and honest reviews. That is what I am trying to do here.

What will you find in my blog?

I try to find an exceptional thing about every place in Europe and make a post about it. Some obviously have more that one, but in some, I just cannot find anything. When it comes to popular tourist destinations – I show them exactly the way they are. There are enough postcard views over the Internet, I will show all the crowds, etc.

Of course, Europe has an endless amount of things to see. For this reason, I often allow guest authors to contribute a blog post. I ask them to share their best experience in Europe. Selection of guest posts, together with my own make “Best of Europe” category (this one includes a selection from Finland as well).

Here is everything I’ve got for Europe (excluding Finland):
